look at that silly puppy

Last Saturday we went for a walk in the woods with Jack. It was a cold day and the pond I recently discovered was frozen over ever so slightly. The little ones were throwing stones and sticks across the ice and guess what the silly dog did? Yes, he did chase the sticks and promptly broke through the ice. He gave me a surprised look but instinctively knew how to swim. He was like a miniature icebreaker. After he reached solid ground he bounced around like a ping pong ball for a short while but then decided he was too cold to continue the walk....

The woods are a treasure trove for weird and wonderful finds: we found a submerged burnt out car which the boys thought was great and a tree decorated for Christmas.

Have a lovely rest of the week. Cx

  7. I love seeing ice like that - great pictures. We have one dog that loves swimming, but the others just bounce around in the shallows. Though it water that cold, I don't think any of them would be swimming. Luckily your little guy has lots of people to give him warm hugs!

  13. That water looks very cold! How funny that he jumped in there. Is he of a breed that like water? We used to have a dog who was half retriever, and should have loved water with that heritage, but he was terrified of it! He would cry if we tried to get him to swim in a pond. I saw a story the other day about ice "pancakes" in a river in Scotland, is that near where you live? I thought it was so interesting.

  14. Dogs are often magnets to water aren't they! Let's hope he doesn't try to repeat that trick until the weather has warmed up a bit!
