it takes little to make me happy (5)

After a busy weekend, an even busier week has started. I am not sure if I am simply tired or if I am falling apart... I am all muddled up. For example, I went to a Birthday party on Saturday to celebrate my friend Sarah's Birthday. When I got there, I discovered that the party was not for the Sarah I thought it was but another Sarah, who is also my friend (must update my phone contacts with last names.....).

This week is not a week I have been looking forward to for a number of reasons, for example having to attend an appeal against redundancy hearing, going for a job interview, and preparing a presentation for this.

I have been reading and reading and reading... not my January book but research literature, which albeit interesting is not as exiting and relaxing as Philip Roth' "Plot against America". As a result I have neglected plenty of other things, most of all the children, housework, food shopping and my knitting. Fun was little to be had but some weeks are just like that. I am not complaining. And it is only Tuesday after all!

Hence, small and simple domestic successes are very satisfying. Seeing those two big blue Ikea bags full of folded laundry counts as a big moment of happiness (even though the laundry has been sitting on the spare bed for 5 days, I just transferred it to the bags to carry them up the stairs today....). It is a visible result, yes?

Another happy moment was that James was crowned pupil of the week for remembering to leave a space between words. As I said, small successes are very satisfying!

So, keeping my fingers crossed, I am now returning back to the task of transforming myself into the ideal candidate for the post I have applied for. I think I am actually, but it is not quite obvious at the moment. Must also remember to wear my dress the right way round (it is hanging in the wardrobe inside out because I am really lazy).

Have a great week! Cx

  1. There are some days, and some weeks, when you just have to grit your teeth and get through them. I think the month of January offers more of these unpleasant opportunities than any other month in the year. Good luck on your application for that position!

  2. Thank you Kristie. I just got to hang in there for another 15 hours or so. If I am not successful with the job application, there will be others just around the corner. Cx
