April sock - horseshoe lace

I have finished knitting the fourth pair of socks in one year! This does feel like a lot but it isn't really, a little knitting here and there and hey pronto, the sock is finished. I always find it boring to knit a second sock but I have two feet and there is no way around it, except that I could maybe wear non matching socks. Which is tempting because socks tend to disappear anyway. I currently have 17 unmatched socks in my laundry basket.

Anyway, the pattern for the April sock is a simple horseshoe lace. It is easy to memorise and knits up quickly.

I used Jawoll Superwash Solids by Lang Yarns. This yarn is 75% merino and 25% nylon. It is cheap and comes in many colours. I would not usually choose a muddy green, it is a sad looking colour somehow. I probably thought that I needed something plain coloured and wearable. The colour is impossible to photograph and I only managed to make a few photos that I am happy to use. The colour does not appear as it is in real life but the horseshoe lace is clear enough.

The pattern is on my sock pattern page. It has not been tested and may well contain mistakes. Please let me know if you spot one!

So, without further ado I'll leave you to ponder the possibility of picking up your double pointed needles and knit a sock. Cx

  1. Your socks are lovely! Beautiful pattern. Thank you so much for leaving me a link to the tunic pattern...I plan to have a look at it tonight and will send you a wee email about it too. Thanks again, I really appreciate you taking the time to send the link and the other information about the pattern.

  2. Gosh, how clever you are - vaguely remember learning to turn a heel at primary school but can't recall how. These are great! Do you invent your own patterns.

  3. Hey Christina,
I saw my friend Debbie knitting a sock the other week. I couldn't cope with watching, let alone doing. So I applaud your muddy green socks. I think it's a lovely colour actually, and the pattern is gorgeous.

  5. Well done Christina, clever sock knitter that you are, sock knitting is not something I have attempted yet, though from people who do sock knit it seems an addictive talent once you try. The broomstick lace is so pretty and thanks for writing it all down too :-)

  6. Your socks look really good. I wear hand knit socks (only plain boring ones) through the winter but at this time of the year they're sometimes a bit too much. I shall have to try these lace ones - they look far more suitable for spring. Are you standing on the windowsill in that first photo?

  10. Four pairs of socks is pretty good going! I love these, the colour looks so nice (even if it's not exact on the photo)! I've never thought about knitting socks before, but it is something I would definitely like to try. :)

  11. Wow how to you make the socks get better and better? 'Make some of Christina's socks' is on my (ever growing) to do list but I think I'll try the January ones first...
