Birthday give-away

Today is my Birthday!

For the past few years, we have been camping on my Birthday and it was a bit of a novelty waking up in a warm bed today, without the dread of having to get out of the warm sleeping bag and traipse through the dewy (or frosty) grass to go to the loo. The weather forecast was just not good enough for a camping trip and we decided to stay at home. There were tears, temper tantrums and other outbursts of emotion but after a BBQ on Friday with our camping friends, the children were happy enough to go about their usual weekend business. As for me, I was pleased when the rain started on Saturday evening. I felt less guilty for chickening out.

Anyway, I wanted to share a bit of my Birthday luck with you. Do you remember the peg apron I made recently? I got a bit carried away and made a few more. To say thank you to my readers far and near, I would like to give away one of the peg aprons. There are two to choose from:

This geometric fabric was leftover when I made Sam's curtains. I really love this fabric but unfortunately, it is no longer on sale.

I don't quite remember why I bought the fabric for this second apron. Quite possibly I bought it just because I loved it. I do this sometimes...

Both tie in the back with a big fancy bow. Oh, and before I forget: there is some wonky stitching, I am not perfect.

If you would like one of the peg aprons, please leave a comment, indicating which one you would prefer. I am happy to post worldwide. I'll pull a name out of my knitting bag on Saturday 10th May.

So, without further ado, I am logging off to look through my Birthday books. I am also hoping to find out why the house smells of burning oil and why I have been banned from the one room I wanted to use (my sewing machine and a half finished pinafore is in there, and the brand new box of flower head pins I got today)... some surprise waiting, no doubt.

Enjoy your Monday, wherever you are! Cx

  1. Happy Birthday Christina! I laughed when I read your description of getting up in the morning when camping. It's so true! I'm happy for you that you were able to wake up on your birthday tucked up comfortably in your own bed. There will be other, hopefully drier and warmer, weekends to camp this year. Please let us know what you discover in the sewing machine room. And I would love to be entered in the draw for an apron. They are both lovely, so I would be happy with either one should my name get pulled out of your knitting bag. :-)

  2. Happy Birthday!
I just popped in to say thank you for your lovely comment on my blog :) But then I got fantastically sidetracked by all the lovely things in your blog - crochet, gardening, photography, recipes - so glad I came across you :)
LOVE the super-sweet peg aprons too. I would love to have my name popped into your knitting bag. They are both so gorgeous, but I think for me, the stripey one wins out. Enjoy the rest of your birthday.

  9. Wishing you a very happy birthday. What a shame about the weather, but I do hope you're having a lovely day anyway. The aprons are great, I'd pick the first one I think, but either would be wonderful. Hope you locate the source of the burning oil smell, it sounds slightly alarming! CJ xx

  11. Belated birthday greetings Christina. Hope you enjoyed a wonderful day. I can't imagine what comments I'd receive from my crew pegging washing out with an apron over my jeans! I love them both but prefer the striped one. You're very clever, and I love that a few wonky stitches don't bother you. I've always declared myself a non-perfectionist, which means I get a lot done and am generally happy with it, no matter how it turns out. Wonky stitching, crooked seams, brush strokes showing, I've no issue with any of it!

  12. Happy Birthday Christina! hope you had a really lovely day being spoiled and that you had some super surprises from your lovely family! I love your peg aprons! Don't enter me in your giveaway though because I have just made a peg bag to replace my old one which was falling to bits - not as nice as these I have to say, but I feel it would be unfair to indent for one when I just have a new one!
