Liebster Blog Award part 1

Once more I am making use of he scheduling option in Blogger. I hope you are having a lovely time. Thanks for stopping by.

Penny at The Homemade Heart has nominated me for a Liebster Award. Thank you Penny, I am most pleased about your kind nomination. The Liebster Blog Award is a blogger- to- blogger nomination system which promotes blogs with less than 200 followers. This is the second time in less than a month that I am participating in a bloggy chain letter but apart from having to ask more bloggers to participate it is actually quite fun. It is also really nice to know how much other bloggers enjoy visiting me here.

These are my tasks:
  1. write 11 random facts about myself.
  2. answer the 11 questions Penny has written for her nominees.
  3. nominate 11 bloggers and ask them 11 questions.
I just know that I am going to fail on task number three but the rest should be easy enough.

A random photo go to with the random facts... rhubarb and raspberry sorbet enjoyed at Nardini's on Byres Rd

Eleven random facts about me:
  1. I used to play the bassoon. Badly.
  2. I do not eat lamb. The smell of cooking lamb makes me feel ill.
  3. I have a soft spot for chewy strawberry sweeties.
  4. I can't cut even slices of bread from a loaf.
  5. I clean the hair catchy bit of the bathroom sink plug with an old toothbrush at the off chance that The Perfect Housewife stops by and checks for all round cleanliness. You just never know. I am a bit funny when it comes to this part of the sink actually. I think it might because of Stephen Kings "It"
  6. My favourite High School subjects were Latin and Italian.
  7. As a student, I worked at the International Swiss Dog exhibition for two summers. My job was to pick up dog poo that irresponsible dog owners left behind. I had a poop trolley, a bag of sawdust, shovel and brush. It was well paid.
  8. I had the opportunity to work in a lab whose leader was recently awarded the Nobel prize. I moved to Glasgow instead, to live with Richard. It was a good choice.
  9. I always on time, I can't help it.
  10. At a friend's birthday party the surprise of the night was a pole dancing glittery bus which drove us ladies into the city centre and back. In true Glaswegian style. Also in true Glaswegian style, we were served cheeky Vimto's before the dancing experience. I can assure you that being prone to car sickness, drinking cheeky Vimtos, a moving bus and loud music don't mix. I didn't move during the entire journey because I was so worried I might be sick all over the dance platform. I have not been invited to similar parties since.
  11. I own a cello that was built in 1890 in Paris.

In my next post, I will answer Penny's questions, reveal my nominees and note down my questions for them.

Have a lovely day!

  2. I liked Latin too! I studied it all the way to degree level! Can hardly remember any of it now though. You'd never catch me pole dancing, and I too have a thing for cleaning parts of the sink and shower with an old toothbrush. It's the only good way to get them clean.
    Lovely randoms, Christina!

  3. I love these! So glad you were paid well for no. 7, I reckon that job would be like changing nappies - it's OK changing your own baby's nappy but a whole lot harder changing someone else's baby's nappy :-) x

  6. I love learning more bout you, I don't eat lamb, more for moral reasons and I would not have had fun on that bus.

  7. I do so love random facts posts. I can't imagine what international Swiss dogs are, but well done you with your trolley and your shovel. Do you play that cello? It's something I always fancied learning, such a beautiful instrument. CJ xx

  8. Brilliant random facts. Love the one about the sink catchy thing. Removed disgusting plug of long hair from our shower this morning but didn't go as far as old toothbrush scrubbing.

  9. You make me laugh, Christina. My husband played/plays the bassoon. He was quite good when he was younger but now he just takes it out once in awhile. Your poop job sounds kind of awful, but I'm glad you made good money. You handled the bus trip in exactly the same way I would have. :)

  10. I enjoyed reading your random facts. I also use an old toothbrush for cleaning. Just last week I progressed to a brush that looks very similar to a toothbrush but a bit bigger - from Lakeland - seems to do the job well!

  11. Fantastic random facts, I would hate a party with alcohol on a moving bus for the same reason.

  12. Congratulations, Christina! I loved reading your random facts, they are so funny. I am prone to using a toothbrush for bathroom cleaning....nothing else can get into those nooks and crannies like a toothbrush can! Ha ha. :)

  13. I love these random facts. There's a lot to be said for following your heart - when I switched jobs at my first post doc my supervisor's parting words were...well you won't get your tickets to Stockholm that way. I made a conscious decision not to win the Nobel prize ;-)
