one of those days

It has been one of those days. I am tired beyond measure. No, I have not been partying late into the night. Neither did I get up early. In fact, life on the whole is good. But some days are like that. Do you sometimes wonder if the life you have chosen to live is the life you actually want to live? It happens to me sometimes. Particularly when the laundry pile is insurmountable, the lingering wet dog smell unpleasant, the children act spoiled and dinner plans don't work out. Bad mood central. There is only one way to combat this. Get out of the house and leave everything behind for a short while. Trainers on, earphones in, audiobook on, dog on lead (then off), camera over the shoulder. A walk is always a good way to disperse a foul mood. Sometimes I just soak up the sounds around me, the sights and smells. Other times I like to immerse myself into a world of imagination and forget the world around me. Today I bumbled along the Kelvin for a good two hours, lost in a well told story, surfacing now and then to look out for Jack, say hello to fellow walkers, collect elderflower heads and take a few photos. A few hours later, a few rows of knitting done, a bowl or rice krispies devoured and I feel almost restored to my normal self. A good night's sleep will do the rest.

Wishing you a great week. Cxx

  1. Sorry it didn't start out as the best day, but you're right, a good green walk is an amazing lift to the spirits. Beautiful photos, especially the heron and the butterfly. Wonderful. I hope you have a really good week Christina. CJ xx

  4. Sometimes only a bowl of rice crispies will do. Or a mug of Heinz tomato soup. Or a thick slice of white bread toasted and buttered. Wonderful photographs Christina. Hope tomorrow is a better day X

  10. Sometimes you do just need to get outside and escape. Bad moods happen, sometimes for no reason. It sounds like a very nice stroll though and I'm sure that Jack was thrilled about the long adventure.

  11. Hey Christina,
I am a huge fan of walking as a way of blowing out the cobwebs. In much the same way, I veer between a stop start walk where I look and listen to my surroundings. Or a bloody good stank to clear my head. And I have Honey of course. My faithful companion. I'm really interested in your opening to your post; about wishing your life was different. There are times when I wonder what would have happened if I had taken a different path when it was presented. I wonder where I would be now if I held onto my job in London, instead of leaving to be a full time Mum. I wouldn't be in St Ives. And maybe I wouldn't have had an Olly. But sometimes I feel a little resentment; especially when unblocking the loo for the umpteenth time.
Take it easy, lemon squeezy. You are good people.
    Leanne xx

  13. Glad your walk made you feel better. Even now if I can't get out out (leaving your children alone in the house is frowned upon ;-) ) just going in the garden makes me feel a bit better. Hope your week is going well! X

  14. A good walk makes you feel better, doesn't it. I sometime muse what I'd be doing and where I would be had I made different decisions earlier down the line. Beautiful photos, Christina xx
