more sunshine on a rainy day

Today I want to tell you about a particularly lovely day in Cornwall. You may recognise the photo below :-)

For a long time I wanted to meet Leanne  Today's Stuff. I do love Leanne's blog, her writing is beautiful and her posts are fun, thought provoking, interesting, amazing, informative and more. Sometimes all the above at once. Living at opposite ends of the country make meeting rather more difficult but us visiting Cornwall opened up a more convenient opportunity.

Leanne was happy to travel across Cornwall to visit us at our campsite on the Roseland peninsula. I was looking forward to a day at our lovely beach. The weather was not on our side however and on the day of the visit I awoke to torrential rain and howling gales. I was rather nervous because I am a bit awkward around people I have not met. I needn't have worried (you knew that of course). We had a lovely time. We drank tea and ate scones that Annie made, chatted, played loud games, went for a blustery happy walk and drank some more tea. The time passed rather too quickly.

Our three little boys were lovely together. There was no awkwardness nor shyness, they just played and chatted as if they had never done anything else.

It is really special to meet someone with whom you have formed an online relationship through your blog. I have now met two bloggers and I hope to meet many more over the years. If you are coming my way, please do let me know! Also, I am in London from the 12th of October for a few days if you are based nearby.

See you all later! Cxx

P.S. If you would like to read Leanne's own post about our rainy day encounter, click here. She has photographed the boys more successfully than I. You'll notice I borrowed the post title, too.

  1. Well done for araanging a meet-up. I've yet to do so and am always a little jealous when I read of other blogger's meetings. I don't stay so far from you, perhaps one day...

  3. I think your photo goes very well with Leanne's; the boys all look great in their yellow waterproofs (and at least you weren't likely to lose any of them!). So glad you had a good time, and I expect you felt as if you'd known each other for years even though you'd only just met. Hope you manage to meet up again in the not too distant future! xx

  5. So glad to have found you. Maybe on my next visit we will be able to meet. I have joined as one of your followers and have you listed on my blog roll. Hopefully, you will do the same and enjoy my life in Texas. By the way, I am also a little shy about meeting my blogging friends.

  6. I always enjoy reading about bloggers meeting up. Hopefully one day I'd have the opportunity to meet up with a bloggy friend too. I'm glad you and Leanne and your families had a great time together. Love the photos of the boys in their bright yellow raincoats. X

  7. What fun! I'm so glad your meet-up went well, and that you had such a good time in spite of the horrific weather. It was funny because when I first looked at Leanne's blog post about it I was so confused to see your boys pop up in her photo. Of course, as I read her post I figured it out. Hopefully next time I come to Scotland we can meet in person. And no worries. I'll be nervous beforehand too. :-)

  8. How super to meet a fellow blogger, I read Leane's blog too. I met a fellow blogger when Rowan of Circle of the Year came to Savannah in 2013. It was wonderful and I know you enjoyed your meeting too.

  13. So glad that you got to meet Leanne. I was hoping to meet her when we went to Cornwall in April, but our schedule meant it wasn't to be, I am sure that she is a lovely person - just like you!!! xx

  14. It is lovely to meet up with people you feel you know through blogging, but have never seen face to face. I love Leanne's blog too. And I really like the idea of letting people know when you're in different parts of the country so you can arrange something!
We still want to move up to Scotland in a few years. Hopefully we'll be able to get together for cake!

  15. I'm so glad that despite that inclement weather, you still had a wonderful time. That's how it should be - the weather doesn't matter if you're in good company.

  16. I knew about this already from Leanne's post - you were lucky to arrange a meeting. I often wonder if people are as we imagine them to be. Actually we are in Scotland next weekend but I don't think it's terribly near you (Peebles, as husband doing yet another bike ride, Tour of the Borders) so a meet up might not be possible. Let me know if it is.

    1. Hi Doris. I have been meaning to reply for ages.... Unfortunately I am committed to help a friend with her catering business today. The rest of the weekend we'll be getting all ready for school next week. We still haven't got school shoes for everybody, nor plimsoles and runners.... I would much rather come and meet you. Christina xx

  19. Were the yellow raincoats your equivalent of wearing carnations? "You will recognise your fellow blogger by the fact her children have yellow coats on..."

I've met very few bloggers in real life, despite the fact that at least 3 or 4 live a short drive away. I should work on that!
