come on a walk with me

Amidst all the December madness, peaceful moments are much appreciated. Jack needs walking every day and I look forward to the weekends when we have time for long walks in the woods. He has an amazing dog walker twice a week, taking him out for to the Campsies. Richard and I take turns on the other days (he does more turns). The week day walks are never quite as relaxing as those on the weekend though. Last weekend was particularly lovely. Alistair, James and I stomped around the woods for a long time, examining tree bark, admiring fungi, playing chase with the dog, chatting to other dog walkers and admire the newly decorated bushes. It is nice that someone bothers putting a bit of Christmas cheer up in the local woods.

I hope you are enjoying moments of peace and quiet, too. Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week. Christina xx

  1. I hope they take it down afterwards though! A walk in the woods is a magical thing isn't it, completely restoring the equilibrium. I'm hoping for lots of walks over the Christmas period, we don't seem to have managed many lately. I think we need a dog! CJ xx

  2. I do miss a walk through the woods, but my husband is not able to walk well and I struggle with the wheel chair. It was a real treat to share your lovely walk.

  4. It is always good to get out at this time of year - I am a bit of a fungi freak and am constantly on the look out for it. Jo x

  5. Having a dog makes you get out there even on days when the weather isn't so good, or you just don't fancy it. I often feel like staying indoors only to feel so much better for getting out and about once I'm there.

  6. Your doggie looks so intent on whatever he is looking at. My dog is my walking buddy too and gets me out on those cold days when I am tempted to skip. Beautiful walk!

  9. We had a similar leisurely walk last week. Normally we are hiking fast through the woods with the dogs, but it was just the little babe and I and we could actually stop and explore. Love those moss covered roots.

  10. What a wonderful peaceful walk! Just what I could do with, but it is too late in the day now. Perhaps over the weekend! Happy Christmas! xx

  11. What a lovely idea to decorate the trees in the woods. We have a twisted hazel in the garden which I hang baubles on but wouldn't have thought about taking my decorations further afield! Wishing you and yours a very happy Christmas and New Year xx

  12. Hey Christina,
I love my walks of escape with Honey, although it's seems to be drizzly for most of them at the mo. Your photographs are very beautiful. Have a restful weekend.

  15. Jack looks very happy and alert. Meg is the same, she just adores her walk. We walk in the local woods too, although they are quite small we go round a few times and Meg adores all the sniffling and snuffling in the wet leaves etc. Having a dog certainly gets you out in the fresh air ( even when you'd rather not go!) x
