snow drop bonanza

A few days ago, I took a lunch time stroll along the river Kelvin. It was mighty high and brown. I had never seen it quite so close to the riverbank. The sandy river beach on the far side of the river is almost completely submerged.

It had been dry for a few days but the mud and squelch along the river path was still monumental. Undeterred, I enjoyed the views and the snow drops. Lots of snow drops. I don't know what it is with snowdrops, they just make me happy. There were small clusters, and there were large snow drop covered areas. Lets enjoy them together, shall we?

This is a patch that has been planted in memory of someone loved. I like the idea of having a snow drop memorial. I may have to mention this to my family.

And here are some snowdrops that have found a space around a tree. I have planted small clumps of snowdrops around my fruit trees and hope that in a few year's time they'll spread like here.

I can't really walk past trees without admiring the intricate patterns created by bark and branching points. I also like moss and lichens growing on trees.

There are still some signs of summers past. It is difficult to imagine now that this skeleton of a flower once was covered in bright pink flowers. The new shoots will be appearing soon at the base.

Just a few impressions of nature as I experience it on a normal day. You can find beauty anywhere you look. All you need to do is look. Have a lovely day. xx

  2. I like the idea of planting the flowers in memory of someone, I've seen benches like that, but not flowers. I'm more of a flower person, too hyper for a bench.

  4. I'm getting caught up on my blog reading after being away for a couple of weeks helping my mom. I love your snowdrop photos! They are one of my favourite flowers. I planted some a couple years ago but not too many came up. I'm going to put more in this fall.

  7. We walk through a churchyard on a regular walk we do, it has several large snow drop filled patches, I wonder if they were deliberately planted as memorials too!

  13. Well said Christina. The small wonders of nature around us every day are just as important to notice as the breathtaking views in exotic locations.

  14. Indeed Christina. Beauty is all around us and I so much prefer natural beauty to the man-made.
