a enchanted morning walk

We don't get them often, misty mornings. Last Saturday though I woke up to soft, gentle light so typical for misty days. It was a gentle mist with the sun trying to shine through, not one of those oppressing thick fogs I remember hanging over the village of my childhood, swallowing all sounds and making all but the very closest objects vanish.

I took the boys to football and then carried on walking Jack. We went down to the river Kelvin and then along to the canal back to football. It was quiet, peaceful, a little eerie and very restorative. I did of course forget me camera. I don't really use my phone to take photos but I really wanted to have a pictorial reminder of this enchanted scenery. I have no idea why some photos are square whilst others are not.

It is amazing how many spiderwebs there were. They must be always there but on my walk the tiny dew droplets made them stand out. What delicate intricate structures they are! I am not very fond of spiders but their engineering skills and tenacity leave me in awe.

Thus refreshed and my stores topped up with positive energy, I really enjoyed the weekend at home, pottering, sewing and clearing the downstairs, slowly but steadily. Wishing you all a good day. x

  1. They're very good photos - I still fall into the trap of thinking that a phone camera is a nice add-on, but nowadays they're often as good if not better than a standalone camera. In fact, I chose my phone deliberately for the standard of the camera in case I forget mine (which I regularly do). Love those spider webs, they look so ethereal! xx

  2. I love misty days that are not too foggy. So wonderful and atmospheric. Love the drops on the spiders web. In my new mindful mode I have been fascinated by the millions of spiders webs in the garden and their occupants. Sadly the mist has usually cleared by the time I'm ready to go out with my camera. 9. One thing I really miss since moving to the desert is a foggy morning. I didn't enjoy driving in fog but I loved walking in it. You got some great photos, I especially like the spider webs.

  13. Wonderful photos, Christina! I almost always use my phone for pictures. I only use my actual camera when traveling. Phones nowadays take great pictures, and have the advantage of always being with you. The reason some of your pictures came out as squares is probably because you slid the option to square by accident when you took your picture. I think the square setting is meant to make it the right size for Instagram. I've often done the same thing.

  16. I love mornings like this - misty and moody and great for taking photographs! We had one of these mornings a while ago and it was amazing to see how busy the spiders had been at night.
