this and that

I am enjoying the last few hours of the weekend. It is quiet in the house with James, Alistair, Richard and the dog gone on their half term adventure and the big kids minding their own business. The latter are knackered after a two night camping bonanza with Scouts. I am told that it was cold (there is a surprise, it is February) but good although not as fantastic as expected. The communal yurt collapsed so they missed some of the activities whilst putting up alternative accommodation.

I have been pottering about the house today, doing nothing much of importance except some laundry. I spent most of this afternoon stitching the binding of Sam's quilt, listening to an urban fantasy novel, which I enjoy. In those rocky times it is best to stay clear on anything that is remotely real.
The whole weekend has been a bit like that actually, it was rather pleasant. Starting with a dog walk on Saturday, ending with a an audiobook and a creative project this evening. In between, there were some light chores, a visit to Ikea, sorting through fabric scraps, dinner with friends and my run (which wasn't quite as fun as the last one, my left shin hurt and it was freezing cold). I didn't bother cooking dinner, today, we had take away pizza instead. As it turns out, Richard didn't cook for his half of the kids either, they went to the chippy. Good times.

Have a lovely week! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello. x

  1. Sounds peaceful, I had a freezing walk this morning with the dogs and a man running came towards me in shorts and a football shirt, it was snowing! The weather can spoil things sometimes x

  3. Hey Christina,
Ooh chippy tea! Sounds ideal! My boys would prefer the pizza. Pottering day in the far south west too. And some dancing in the kitchen. Good times.

  4. Well that sounds like rather a blissful weekend. I was just thinking I would like a sewing project on the go, sometimes I like to sew, sometimes knit, and at the moment I'd like to sew a bit. Plenty of scraps around, I'm sure I could work something out. Pepperoni pizza is the littlest boy's very favourite thing. I agree about reading subjects, reality is often best avoided. Hope you enjoy the rest of the evening. CJ xx

  5. It sounds like you had a great weekend, nice and productive. Pizza sounds wonderful right now. Maybe I'll make pizza for dinner this coming Friday. My husband and I had takeout Chinese for dinner last night, for the first time since last summer. It was so good! Half of the fun was in not having cooked it myself. :)

  14. Sounds like a nice weekend. Radio plays and old episodes of Father Brown on the iplayer are my source of escape from reality these days. I hope the kids enjoy their half-term and you have a brilliant day off with Alistair and James. x

  16. Yes! The Candlesticks are amazing!!! And isn't it good sometimes just to let loose and have a pizza/takeaway instead of cooking? I may spoil myself one night next week. Our half term doesn't start til Friday and I'm working still. The perils of full time employment, no time for fun!

On a different note, on my hygge blog https://howtohyggethebritishway.com/ I'm doing a series on hyggely blogs (that's blogs that make me feel hyggely, not specifically about hygge) and yours is one of my favourites. Would you be prepared to answer just a couple of questions, give me permission to use a couple of photos and, of course, have loads of links to your blog from mine? It would be lovely if you'd take part. Please let me know via email or leave a comment on my blog.
