the last dregs of summer

It has been a while since I enjoyed a walk on my own along the canal and river. Me and Jack went out last Sunday for a stroll and a sniff. Jack is the slowest dog in the world, he literally has to sniff each blade of grass and mark his way really carefully. It drives me nuts sometimes, I like a brisk walk myself. I could just walk ahead, Jack would follow eventually, but I don't. Instead, I enjoy the scenery. It is distinctly autumnal now in these neck of the woods! Colours are changing and the temperatures are dropping to a chill in the mornings. Big fat spiders have started coming inside. I am not sure why they bother, I bring them back outside swiftly.

I haven't much time to write just now (I am at work) but I did want to share the photos from my walk before it is time for those wintery shots....

Have a lovely Thursday! xx

  3. Lovely photos Christina - lots of berries around here too which, if we're to believe countryside lore, is the sign of a hard winter approaching.

  4. Lovely photos, there's always something to see on a walk. Thanks for sharing your walk. I too would always rush about everywhere. Having hurt my tendon that's been getting worse the last few years, I have had to slow down and not go for long walks. Frustrating for now. Enjoy the week. Cx

  5. Great photos capturing the season perfectly. Last year we had warm weather right into Autumn but I am feeling the need to sort through my clothes and make something in corduroy. My work load kicks in next week so I am enjoying a day on my own today - I am not really getting anything done. Jo x

  9. It's still hot here but the look is definitely changing. Everything green is going a little bit yellow and I can't believe how dark it is by 7:30 in the evening.

  10. Hey Christina,
I looked over at Rosewall Hill today, and was struck by the Autumnal look of it. I enjoy this turn in the year, when everything returns to the earth, or goes to sleep. Honey has become quite the sniffer in her dotage. It's a bit of a pain, but I guess she likes to know who's in the neighbourhood.

  11. Love your photos, windy, autumnal weather here too. We're scheduled to be on a ferry tomorrow for England. Not sure it will sail. The joys of island life. B x

  12. Beautiful photos :) I've not had time to walk lately and miss it... won't have a lot of time for the rest of the year but I really don't want to miss the seasonal delights so although I won't be getting out for good long walks, I will notice the little things day to day :)

  13. Wow, your photos really are terrifically autumnal! We're so busy worrying about the fire which is only 3 miles from our house that I haven't stopped to notice how golden the grasses in our pastures are. Thanks for sharing. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  14. Lovely photos of the plants changing their autumnal dresses. I do love the colours of Autumn. Spring is ever so slowly dawdling here....can't wait for it to arrive in all its pretty colour.

  15. Such beautiful photos, it was a joy to visit. There are hardly any trees here on the Island so the changes here are a little different. There are subtle changes of colour across the moors and machair.

  16. Some good photos Christina. I like the first close-up of the hydrangea - nice detail. I have a very slow walking dog also - she is a solid Corgi who I say "waddles" her bumble butt along rather than walk. Enjoy your weekend.

  17. Our dog also very slow and stubborn: if he wants to go in a different direction he stops dead and won't move unless dragged on the lead. Lovely pics.
