November....ing

Today, I am once more inspired by Jo's Novembering post over at Three Stories High.

:: Wondering whatever happened to October and hoping that November will be more memorable.

:: Recovering from the shock of spending £1000 on getting our car through the MOT. Apparently it has now a good few years of reliable service left.

:: Stitching straight lines on my hexagon quilt and enjoying the process.

:: Cutting binding for Alistair's quilt.

:: Tidying my craft room and having a stern word with myself for buying too much fabric that can be nothing else than t-shirts and variations of t-shirts.

:: Considering my options to reduce my working hours.

:: Feeling disinterested in food but curiously hungry at the same time. Bowls of cornflakes and generous chunks of bread with strawberry jam are what I want to eat just now. Preferably Sam's sourdough bread. Unfortunately everyone else wants proper food.

:: Lovingly "nourishing" my Christmas cake with Kirsch.

:: Finding my lost bike lights only days after buying new ones.

:: Loving the copper coloured beech leaves that form a thick soft carpet in the local woods

:: Looking forward to a dinner party we are hosting at the end of the week for one group of friends and an afternoon tea with another group of friends the day after. I am truly rocking the boat with two social events in two days!

:: Finding origami claws, apple cores and other assorted small boy detritus all around the house.

:: Reluctantly dragging myself away from this post and concentrate on work. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello. I have been a bit slow with leaving comments on your blogs but I do find small fragile bubbles of time to read and at least know that I am not missing any major gossip :-)

  3. A walk through leafy woods like that would be most lovely! I too have been having stern words with myself in my little craft space ... about the number of half finished projects I have!! Meg🙂

  4. Ouch! That's a big expense. On the other hand your car has more years, and it's cheaper than buying a new one. 😊

Mmm bread and strawberry jam sound lovely. In fact, I'm going to have just that for dinner. 😀

  5. Any time I can't find something if I buy a new one the old one will show up.

  6. I'm wondering where November has gone. How can next week be Thanksgiving (for us Americans)!

  7. I love that although we are across the pond from each other, our surroundings and experiences have much in common to enjoy, or sympathize with and then cheer each other on...I recently had a similar car maintenance expense...gasp.... xx

  9. OOOOh what are you cook...ing for your friends, would love to know. Your ings are honest and true, which is why I like writing those posts because they can be a teeny bit negative in places which keeps it real but photos and cheering on moments help it become easier to digest. Whole posts of peoples negative thoughts can be draining, yours is not. £1000 for an MOT!!! bloody hell. Jo xxx

  10. Ouch. I'm facing similar on my MOT in January! I hope yours at least does give you the years they say it will now!
And there's nowt wrong with lots of t-shirts and variations there-of!
That is a glorious leaf carpet though, you are lucky to have that!

  11. Goodness, that was a steep MOT - these things always creep up on you when you're least expecting it. Hope they gave you a gold certificate! :) Lovely autumn pics - hasn't it been glorious this year. Have a lovely week. Jane x

  12. Seems like just recently I was seeing beautiful flowers on your blog and now fall has arrived...here too. Yikes on the auto expense after I found out what £1000 is in USD. I also spent some $ on auto repairs last week for oxygen sensor replacement. And it never fails that IF you buy something, you will find a misplaced item. Homemade bread and jam sound great.

  13. Hi Christina - lovely autumn pictures. I dread putting my ageing car in for its MOT as there were dire warnings of trouble to come last year. We keep talking about moving to one car and will do this when it eventually expires. I could easily cycle to work but am too idle/reluctant to get wet to do this regularly so I hope it lasts a bit longer. Hope your week is going well and you enjoy your dinner party and afternoon tea. X

  14. Hi Christina, I'm just trying to catch up. I think you need to make lots more t-shirts! They always come out so nice. I love the sound of kirsch in a Christmas cake. That would be delicious. I've decided I'm going to give one or two of my cake's feedings with amaretto, just to add something extra. I'm using rum otherwise. I do have some kirsch, maybe I'll try that next year!

  15. You have made me want to start nourishing a cake! And you can never have too many t shirts!

  16. I too seem to have lost an interest in food.. :(
Enjoy the dinner party and spending some time with friends.

  17. I love these little 'ing' posts that you and Jo do. It is so annoying about the lights, it's as if your brain can suddenly see when confronted with the new item! x
