December...ing

I do so enjoy writing these more or less regular ....ing posts. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Just the way I like it.  Jennifer and Jo have both recently written lovely December... ing posts and I like to follow suit. The photos are more or less random and represent my entire photography efforts over the last few weeks, with the exception of course of Alistair's birthday photos, which I have already shared.

:: Observing the winter birds on the canal. I don't know why the cormorants move inland in the cold weather. Any thoughts?

:: Enjoying the first few days of a long break over the festive period. These days are passing quickly, far too quickly.

:: Working on a secret present for someone and hoping I can finish it in time. Fingers crossed. A dog is sleeping on it just now and a break is in order.

:: Keeping an eye on said dog because he had a seizure this morning on our walk. Rudie is Jack's best dog pal and I am still a bit shaky after experiencing a dog seizure. Rudie seems completely fine now but has a vet visit scheduled for later today

:: Feeling relieved at having successfully completed my UK settled status application as part of a pilot project via my work. I received the most patronising email letter from the Home Office, which made we want to throw my laptop through the window.

:: Coincidentally, I experienced my first ever anti European abuse, at my multicultural workplace no less and in the presence of two other (equally shocked) European citizens. I am considering a formal complaint. On the whole, people here in Glasgow are very welcoming and of course all of Scotland has rejected Brexit. If only this mattered.

:: Looking back to afternoon tea at the Blythwood Square hotel with my friend Christine. It was most enjoyable and service was pure amazing. It was nice to be treated like royalty.

:: Planning a Hogmanay party for friends and neighbours.

:: Encouraging James and Alistair to finish the running's club Santa dash in freezing rain. It was meant to be a fast race along the canal but the canal path was too treacherous and the kids were running laps around a waterlogged and sleet covered playing field instead. You can't see the sleeting rain on the photo but I assure you, it was miserable.

:: Rearranging the living room furniture to make space for the Christmas tree

:: Shopping with Richard. Just a couple of hours, nothing too strenuous. Shops are not my thing and I would not ever shop for fun (unless it is a fabric/yarn shop). As a reward, we treated ourselves to lunch.

:: Finishing my hexagon quilt - one stitch at the time.

:: Cooking a big pot of Bolognese sauce for a large lasagna I am planning to cook on Christmas Eve. You can never go wrong with lasagna, petits pois and a green salad.

:: Not letting myself being stressed by all the hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations all around me and looking forward to decorating our tree with the children later today.

Thanks for stopping by and saying hello. A very warm welcome to new readers, it is lovely to hear from you.

  1. I loved reading these, Christina. I hope Rudie is okay! How scary. No need to be stressed by Christmas, it never helps anything. You'll have a wonderful time decorating the tree. We're done with school at noon today and I can't wait! Have fun and remember to breathe. :)

  2. How horrible about the abuse. This whole mess is disgusting. My little family of four is all going to be together for Christmas and that is the best present any of us could have. Really, with adult 'children' of 24 and 27 there is zero pressure about presents or what stage the preparation should be at - we all just want time together, good food and wine/gin/cognac, and a good dose of the outdoors. I hope you all have a great relaxed Christmas.

  4. Lots of lovely ings. As for the dreaded Brexit that bus sums it up for me. I feel for you having to fill out endless paperwork. It can only get worse for all of us. Glad Christmas is not stressing you out. Enjoy your crafting and have a lovely time with the family. B x

  5. I hope you enjoy your holidays and have a lovely, chilled out Christmas. I've been looking at your quilts and some that you've linked to as I'm trying to choose one to start over the holiday. Now you've got me thinking about hexagons too! So sorry to hear about the abuse; that is outrageous. X

  6. I love an ing post as your know and yours is no exception. I forgot about your hexies that should be nice to do over Christmas. Your kids are stalwarts running in the sleet like that, not to mention you cheering them on. Love to you all. Jo xx

  8. Sorry about the dog seizure, that must have been scary. Horrible that you have been subjected to abuse at work, unbelievable the way people can behave. Love, love, love the photo of Jack on the ironing board, he is the king of the castle. I am not being stressed by the Christmas busy-ness either and am avoiding shops like the plague. Have a good weekend Christine. CJ xx

  9. I can imagine how scary the seizure was! Your dog is so cute and I love the photo of him on the ironing board! I do hope you share a photo of your decorated tree! Things are nearing, aren't they? Dayle went out and got a few little toys for the boys and 3 toys for the dogs in our lives. Nearly set!

  11. Love the bus and so sorry to hear about the abuse at your workplace. Some people just confound me. At least your paperwork is now done so that's one less thing. Dog seizures are horrible aren't they, especially the first time you experience one. Keep enjoying your relaxed lead up to Christmas. xx Susan

  12. You have been busy my friend with a good mix of the good, well and the not so good. People can be very rude and that includes co-workers. Wishing you a peaceful weekend.

  15. I always enjoy reading these posts :)

I love the Bollocks to Brexit bus. I'm still hoping (perhaps foolishly) that it never happens and we can forget the whole debacle never happened and get back to 'normal'. I'm sorry to read you suffered a bit anti european abuse at work :(
