Easter weekend

I lost track of time, it is rare that I don't write for more than a week. How did you enjoy the Easter weekend? Ours was good. Four days without alarm clock. We did very little, which is how I like down time. I am so busy at work that I prefer having completely unstructured days when not at work.

Jack had some lovely walks with a changing assortment of his favourite people. Other than that, he spent most of his time basking in the sun as if his life depended on it. I sometimes envy this creature, not a worry in the world. Unless you count squirrels and the occasional helicopter overhead disturbing his naps.

We had an Easter feast with friends on Saturday evening with. It was a bit pick and mix... Richard made a traditional roast leg of lamb with mint sauce and all. I made eastern Mediterranean salads. For dessert we had ridiculous amounts of cheese and ice cream for those that prefer less smelly puddings.

I spent a lot of time sitting in the garden, stitching, chatting to friends or just concentrating on making vitamin D. Can it get any better? The weather was truly amazing and I enjoyed every moment of it.

James and Alistair also spent a lot of time outside but not so much in the garden. They prefer the playground where they can kick a ball or play with friends. Having said that, I noticed some football damage in my big planter of tulips, cleverly hidden by a small person with a guilty conscience.

I don't remember seeing Sam much. That doesn't mean he wasn't home but he likes to hide in his man-cave in the dark. Vitamin D it seems is not a priority for him. He has yet to learn that there is more to a healthy life than vitamin supplements.

Annie spent a lot of time socialising with her friends. It is a lovely group of friends that she is hanging out with. They like to go to the Botanic Gardens, or hangout in various family garden. They are all into the kind of music that I recognise, which is nice. I am glad she managed to relax a little because exams start shortly. Annie is sitting seven exams, maybe eight, I can't be entirely sure.

Richard was either cycling, watching cycling or gardening.

We ventured out to Go Outdoors because I would like to have a smaller tent that I could put up myself if I wanted to. Our mansion sized tent is strictly a two person job. The tent I had in mind was not on display and James and Alistair were behaving badly so we left, mission unaccomplished. On the plus side, we saved money, which is always useful.

We were very restrained with Easter chocolate. One chocolate egg per child, a handful of small ones for the Easter egg hunt in the garden (three are still missing) and a small Lindt bunny for Richard and I. There are no leftovers. I don't have to take any decorations down because I failed to put any up. I am not much of a seasonal decorator at best of times. I also didn't dye any eggs, I just enjoyed seeing my mums. I am cheekily sharing the photo she sent so that you can admire her amazing eggs.

The next Bank Holiday weekend is not far. I just love May, two long weekends and my Birthday. Also, the weather is often very good here in Scotland.

Thanks for stopping by, it is good to see you :-)

  2. Sounds like a lovely, relaxed Easter. Your Mum's eggs are fabulous; ours are a selection of eggs that the girls have decorated over the years but, like you, I failed to put any up this year. Jack has got that snoozing thing down to a fine art and I love the patchwork he's chosen to do it on! Here's to a happy May. xx

  3. Lovely eggs, well done your mum, they are perfection, absolutely beautifully done. Glad you had a good Easter, it sounds blissful. LOVE the photo of Jack. Dogs really know how to relax don't they. The hiding of the football damage made me smile, it is much the same here. When I find it I bellow, 'WHO HAS DONE THIS TO MY PLANT???' and without so much as a split-second's hesitation the two older ones say the youngest's name. They are shockers. Hope you're having a good week. CJ xx

  4. Lovely flower photos. I do miss spring flowers popping up. Nothing like that in Florida, but I'm about to head north to Michigan and should see some this time of year.

  5. Lovely photos, especially of Jack! I was working all weekend, which suited me as it was so busy in our little town, especially on the promenade. We've been very busy in the garden though. Best, Jane :)

  8. Beautiful flowers Christina and the eggs, so elegant! Jack, he lives the life doesn't he, he's great. My two used to occasionally play football in the garden, I can only remember the odd pot or saucer broken. The saucer was really for the birds to drink from, though QT would often drink from it too. We went down to Hampshire over the bank hols weekend to stay with MIL and whilst there experienced a bit of a heatwave. The temperature in Lincolnshire has returned to normal now. Take care and thanks for your message, Cathy x

  11. Great flower shots, Christina, and especially liked the one of Jack napping. He has a great dog's life for sure! Your Easter plans sounded fun and restful in between. It's always nice to read about what your family members are doing.

  12. Love the photo of Jack and the eggs are amazing. L spends most of his time in the dark too! If I didn't make him go outside for the regulation 20 mins to make vitamin D every day he would be quite content to stay indoors! x
