a perfectly boring week
After the stressful experience of the week before, the past week has been blissfully boring. So much so that I feel I need a little excitement in my life. Maybe a visit to B&Q. And of course there is nothing of note to mention here... I am sure that one day, the balance will be just right, like in Goldilocks and the bears.
The good news of the week was that Alistair finally went back to school on Thursday, after missing a full week. He seemed happy enough to be back and informed me that he hadn't missed much at all. I wonder how much attention he gives to what is happening in class... There will be plenty more disruption, I am sure of it. Already, we have entered a period of increased restrictions in the Greater Glasgow area due to Covid-19 numbers climbing but hopefully, schools can remain open.
The beginning of September was a bit dreich here in Glasgow but I have high hopes for some glorious September weather. I love the crisp fresh air in the morning replaced by a gentle warmth later in the day. Sunday was like that, it was pure magic. We visited the friends in their back garden for a wee BBQ. Restrictions on indoor visits means that we have to take every opportunity when the weather is warm enough to meet outside. Today is another day and it is wet and windy. More such days of smirr and drizzle or torrential rain are no doubt in store for us over the coming weeks. I am not quite ready for autumn and the winter darkness that follows soon after but of course there is nothing I can do.
Jack seems to be a bit under the weather. He stole a large greasy chorizo sausage yesterday and also my peanut butter and marmite toast. He must have a sore tummy. I managed to wrestle most of the toast out of his grip but he fiercely defended the sausage. It was too hot to eat and he had to let it cool down., growling at anyone coming near him. He also growled at the sausage (for being too hot no doubt).
This week we'll be celebrating two family birthdays. Other than that, I hope the week ahead is on the boring side once more, it suits me just fine.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you all have a happy week!
Poor Jack, I hope he is all better very soon. He looks so cosy all curled up on your quilt. The image of him fiercely defending his hot sausage made me smile. My youngest usually tells me that he hasn't learned anything at school, so he will be able to relate to Alistair not having missed anything. Hope it's a good week, with a visit to B&Q. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteC numbers have climbed here recently, but I think they are mostly explained by local outbreaks one of which was caused by a church service. I hope school goes well.
ReplyDeleteGlad, you've finally succumbed to boredom, your previous week was definitely not one to repeat. Good the weather has been kind for a short while. Knowing your corner it will be dreich very soon ;). Hopefully the Covid numbers won’t get too high and the schools can continue. It helps to bring a bit of normalcy to life. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that things remain calm with you and Jack recovers from too much sausage. B x
ReplyDeleteI thought of you when I heard on the news about Glasgow having tougher restrictions imposed. Our numbers are on the increase here in Leeds and we're waiting to find out if the same is going to happen here, it will all depend on what happens over the next week or two I should think. Awww, poor Jack. We had Archie at the vets the week before last. He was just out of sorts and wasn't himself. The vet couldn't find much wrong and thought he might just have a tender stomach, she prescribed two tablets to be halved and given at four periods, £52.53! I'm glad to report that he's back to his old self again now. I hope Jack will be soon too.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that life has become a little quieter, it is so much more manageable like that isn't it, even if it doesn't give us much to blog about! I am glad to hear that Alistair is back at school now, I hope Jack feels better soon after his sausage eating!
ReplyDeleteI’ve never tried peanut butter and marmite toast. I use marmite and butter. I’ll remember to use peanut butter next time. 😊
ReplyDeleteGlad that Alistair was able to go back to school after the testing fiasco, hope he is feeling much better and will settle back quickly. My goodness, what a week you had!
ReplyDeleteHope Jack's tummy is better too, the image of him and the sausage made me smile. Have a good week, boring or otherwise.
And Happy Birthdays X 2
Good news in that this past week was less unsettling than the previous one. Glad to read that all family members are doing well, perhaps with the exception of Jack (?) and he did look comfortably cuddled up. Sorry to learn of increasing virus numbers. Good that you could see friends as we also did this weekend, only 4 of us and we have been regularly getting together for months now and all are thankfully well. Wishing family members a happy birthday celebration.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear about just a regular week after all that you have been through. I am hoping for one myself this week. Stay safe my friend.
ReplyDeleteI am very happy to hear that you had a nice, boring week. I know it's just what you needed! Glad to hear Alistair is feeling better and back in school. I am so sorry to hear Jack is a bit under the weather. I hope you have a good week ahead. Enjoy celebrating family birthdays, as well.
ReplyDeleteYes, a little spell of boring to balance the drama is no bad thing. Hope Jack has recovered.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet photo of Jack. I love this time of year, too.
ReplyDeleteGive me 'boring' and 'mundane' any day. I hope Jack is feeling much better by now (terriers are usually pretty resilient aren't they). He looks adorable curled up in the quilt.
ReplyDeleteSending Happy Birthday wishes. X
Hurrah for the boring - you certainly don't want another week like last week. Both of my girls have sore throats since returning to school this week. Naughty dog! Jo xxx
ReplyDeletecute pic of Jack, hope he's feeling better, and I love boring weeks !
ReplyDeleteI am sure you are thankful for the boring. I have a naughty dog too, who doesn't get any better the older he gets, but he is ours and we love him.
ReplyDeletehi Christina
ReplyDeleteJust testing to see if that comment published. I have left several which have disappeared! Pleased to hear that you have had a better week and that Alistair is back at school. My life is very boring at present and suits me just fine! x Doris
