I made it
... to the end of that week that is. Unexpectedly, it was actually a good week. My pile of marking never turned up, which was a big relief. I am only sorry someone else now has to do it. But I guess it is not my fault that the marking was delayed by more than three weeks. Instead, I updated some older lectures, enjoyed three long live sessions with one of my class, expanding on our learning from the past 10 weeks and setting the world of zoonotic diseases right. I also had two sessions with oral presentations with another class. I have to say, my students are amazing. Clever, motivated and engaged with the course me and each other. It was so nice to see them, being an online lecturer can be a bit lonely (most of my courses are taught asynchronously).
As I am sitting here by the window, I watch the torrential rain flood our garden patio. The gutter overflowed and there is a curtain of water gushing down from the roof. I hope there is no rain left in the clouds for tomorrow and the next ten days.
I should do some packing but I am not in the mood just now. I already packed a bag of books and games, socks on the needles and some hand quilting. Also my head torch for late night reading. The essentials. The rest can wait. I need to rest my body and soul for a few hours to recharge my batteries.
I'll be back here in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, have a really good time.
P.S. I already finished the book at the bottom of the pile, loved it. Just in case you need some summer reading.
I also loved Between Two Kingdoms, and I enjoyed The Vanishing Half. I hope you'll tell us what you think of the others. Have a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteWell done for powering through to the end of term. Glad the week wasn't as stressful as anticipated. I hope you have a lovely holiday, it is very well deserved. A bag of books is one of the best things. CJ xx

ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful trip. You deserve the rest and relaxation. Sometimes I think the packing of clothing and food is what takes the longest when camping or going to a cabin.
