temporary calm

Thank you so much for all your kind words about Pippin, you are so very thoughtful        .

There have been no other veterinary emergencies, thank goodness. Jack is always on the look-out for something tasty but chocolate is firmly out of his reach. The other day I had to stop him from eating a cigarette butt on the street and today he tipped the compost bin over for some indoor scavenging. It is a good time of year for Jack, many (too many) dead frogs to roll around in. He loves a good roll on a dead frog. Lupin is healing well. She so far has ignored the water fountain I bought to encourage her to drink plenty. She prefers the bathroom tap. Jack on the other hand loves the fountain. Lupin now has to eat a special diet that should slow down formation of new stones in her bladder. She is indignant but I suppose she'll eat when she is properly hungry.

I worked two days only last week and it was great. The Easter weekend was more than welcome. Next week marks the beginning of the next 11 weeks teaching term. I barely recovered from the last one... no rest for the wicked and all that. I have two courses starting, one continuing. The term finishes after the kids break up for their summer holiday and I must remember to organise some activities for them. I forgot for the spring holiday and they spent a lot of time on screens, and arguing. The good news is that my first two teaching weeks for both courses are up to date and ready to go. There is no last minute throwing powerpoint slides together for online courses. Everything needs to be processed into a a fully accessible format, transcribed, captioned, uploaded and checked. Alternative formats need to be created, too.

I walked plenty this passed week, 37 km my smart watch tells me. It is no surprise with only two days at work. No running though.... but I'll get back to that. I prefer walking at this time of year, so much to see. I am not implying that I run at warp peed, too fast to take in the sights. Just in case you are wondering.

It looks like we are having a Chinese take-away for dinner. I am not keen on that, or most take-away meals really. I'll find something in the freezer for myself, there must be something.

I'll be back soon with an April...ing post. Thank you for visiting 😋

  1. Aww Jack you just have to love him. He is such a great dog to be around it seems. Never a dull moment.
A short work week that must have been a lovely break for you and you seem to be very organised with the start of the next term already.

  4. What a dreamy collection of blooms, especially since it is snowing here this morning. 🥸

Chinese sounds good to me. Two meals were planned for recent birthdays and none eventuated — the Chinese meals, I mean. 😸

  5. Oh Christina I can feel your need to rest, just rest. I do hope you can find that space for yourself it is hard isn't it to carve out that time. I do hope your term of teaching goes well, it sounds like you are well prepared.

  6. After living in the middle of nowhere for 18 months I too have gone off takeaway food. In these circumstances it actually takes longer to go and get it and then arrive home with it cold! Work sounds ominous but having a plan for the summer holidays sounds like a good idea. I recall you saying it worked well in previous summer holidays so there must be something niggling there for you to get something booked. Jo x

  7. I know what you mean about walking at the moment, it's just glorious out there isn't it. Bertie likes to roll in worm casts and pull the worm up and eat it if he can. He at something unmentionable this morning that was probably from a cat if you take my meaning. Honestly, they are complete shockers aren't they? Lovely apple blossom, I have some too, although mostly on one tree - not sure what's happened to the other. Glad you had a break, it sounds as though you are very organised as well. Hope it all goes smoothly and that it isn't too exhausting. CJ xx

  8. The flower shots were so wonderful to see, Christina. The dogwood blooms made me recall the ones that used to be at my late parents home. I wondered what the orange blooms were as they were so vibrant. And, always great to see jack, who is quite the foraging scamp. Glad to read that Lupin is doing well. And, that you had an enjoyable holiday.
