the winter lurgy
Sickness is sweeping through the house, starting with Alistair, then James and finally, yours truly. Richard was away for a a few days and maybe escaped the period of peak transmission. As I am typing, the boys have recovered mostly but I am still not feeling well. The fever broke but the cough remains persistent and painful. My brain feels too big for my skull. Paracetamol, ibuprofen and Strepsils are my new best friends.
I canceled as many work meetings as I could, attended those I couldn't virtually and have given up on my to do list. Thankfully I completed marking and I had only two teaching sessions this week. The house is a tip and I have given up trying. I did however empty the cat litter tray, which is a priority on my chore list because I have a well developed sense of smell.
The photos are from around campus, where there is major construction work all around. I rather like the street art displayed, it is cheerful on a dreich December afternoon.
Ah well, hopefully I feel human once more soon. Thanks for visiting 😊
I know exactly how you feel Christina. My bugs are sort of on the way out but have left me so tired and with a really foggy brain. Not fun. Our house is in the same position as yours and so I have just accepted that for now, it is what it is.
ReplyDeleteLove the street art around the campus :-)
Take care of yourself and get well soon x
Oh dear, hope you feel better soon. I'm a teacher too and always come down with something at the end of term!! Love the street art, very colorful! Greetings from Barcelona!
ReplyDeleteSeveral friends are not well, coughs with dreadful headaches, so take care and rest.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a speedy recovery; rest and don't push yourself.
ReplyDeleteIs rotten when the bugs tour the family. I think (?!) I’ve headed them off here with a cough cocktail (chopped onion and honey left overnight and strained) and yes, I was sceptical but it does actually help. Hope your meds mix does the trick- it’s an exhausting season for sure. A lot of my teacher colleagues are almost on their knees too. Good health to you Christina.
ReplyDeleteAs of today we seem to be celebrating the season with a second round of covid (the vector likely to be a volunteer role at a local high school) - just spent an hour putting off guests due to arrive tonight and cancelling some appointments. Merry Merry and all that. Hope yours departs quickly and simply!

I hope you feel better soon! We're in a 5th wave of covid with the highest number of cases since January. But i think many people really just carry on with normal life.... May the coming days be filled with your favourite people, moments, places and things and much better health!
ReplyDeleteMuch sickness here in my part of Canada too. My son and his girlfriend are due to have a baby any day now so I'm taking lots of extra precautions. Hope you're feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteOh no! It is often the way at this time of year. I hope you will all be feeling much better soon. Xx
ReplyDeleteHope by now you are fully recovered Christina. Happy Christmas! X Doris
ReplyDeleteDoh! hope you feel better soon. I used to get sick every Christmas when I worked in primary schools but not any more! Sending hugs. Jo x
ReplyDeleteIt's never convenient to be ill, Christina, and never more so than at a busy and festive season. Hope that you and the family will be feeling better soon and able to enjoy the holidays together. Merry 🎄and Happy New Year 🥂🎉
ReplyDeleteDear Christina, wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year! Hugs, Rose x
