Friday night and I should be packing

This week I walked to the Hyndland bakery for a loaf of sourdough rye. There wasn’t a single loaf left, not of any kind of bread and I walked out of the bakery ready to burst into tears. I know, just a loaf of bread but it nearly broke me. Some days the straw that breaks the camel’s back is very brittle.

I weighed Josie the cat because she looks fat and feels fat. She did not appreciate my concern about her weight, claiming it is all just fur, fat shaming her and all that kind of malarkey. I would like to feed her twice a day, like the canines, to have an idea of her food intake. But Josie insists on food on demand. Very loudly so and if necessary all through the night. Her majesty also requires a dripping bathtub tap because that’s her favourite way of drinking. To sleep or not to sleep? And how long would the standoff last for?

We had another safe guarding call from College and we had to pick up Iris. Luck has it that just two days later, Iris had their first appointment with Glasgow Youth Service. Comparing CAHMS with the Glasgow Youth Service is tempting, the former arranging an appointment within 6 weeks of first contact. CAMHS… well we are still waiting, 3 years 4 months and counting. Iris was seen by a doctor, had a hour long chat, then the next day I received a follow-up call to see how Iris was, and to ask what support Richard and I needed and offering it, too. Iris has an other doctor’s appointment in three weeks and starts counselling next week. Hopefully a turning point because I am tired.

Frankie is allowed out in the garden and he takes great pleasure in darting through the cat door, zoom around the lawn, jump up like a bouncy ball and zoom around some more. He carries all sorts of detritus through the cat flap, which unfortunately is under my desk, a veritable cat tunnel actually, through the outer wall of the house. On Wednesday, he brought in moss, lots of moss. He also found an old plant pot, several sticks and leaves. My office floor looked like a tornado had gone through it. I uttered some curses and went for a walk. Upon my return the mess was all gone and my office looked pristine. James, to my utter astonishment had cleaned my office. I think my cursing, combined with my haunted slightly crazed  expression must have frightened him into action. Maybe a look I need to practice?

Right, I better go and pack my bags for my Kuala Lumpur trip tomorrow. I’ll check in with you all with a January … ing post next week.

Thanks for visiting 😊

  2. Sending hugs and bucketloads of understanding - sometimes it really is the little things that break you because youve literally been carrying a shed load of crap around for weeks/months/years on end. I'm glad that support is being offered to you and Richard, Dave and I are often on our knees, quite literally in prayer xx
