Today we explored the woods

Today, Alistair, James, Jack and I went for a walk in the local woods. It is in the middle of Glasgow and well worth a visit, if you don't mind the occasional whiff of rubbish coming from the dump on the edge of the woods.
Jack played with every dog we met. James and Alistair jumped in many puddles. I took lots of photos:

Apart from that, I am looking back on a week with ups and downs. Here some random picks:
  • I finished knitting my November sock (watch this space).
  • I filled four advent calendars with Celebrations. There will be complaints on days with Bounty chocolates.
  • We celebrated Sam's 14th Birthday.
  • Richard and I went to the PTA quiz night. We didn't come last but nearly. I drank too much Prosecco. Far too much.
  • I received my first pay cheque in 11 months.
  • I bought a new pair of shoes and a new family wall calendar with six columns, one for each of us. Most only have five columns.
  • I pretended all week that I don't have a dissertation submission deadline looming on the 15th of December.
  • Alistair's entire block of speech therapy has been cancelled. I am relieved because of the extra time we have but angry because Alistair really needs help with his speech development.
  • I dug the Christmas cards out. I always buy them in the sale after Christmas for the next year.
  • We, the PTA (of which I am the treasurer), approved to buy of an entire reading scheme for the first two years of school. We raise a lot of money for the school and mostly use it to buy essential resources like books and smart board projectors.
  • I got some exiting results for research project at work. I like being back in the lab. It is a bit scary, I am operating instruments that cost more than our house.
  • I worked on Annie's crochet blanket (more on that another day).
And now you have to forgive me, I have to get some fresh air. Sam and four of his friends are seriously polluting the air in this house of mine. Have a lovely Sunday! Cx

  2. I hope that the goods have outweighed the not so goods and that there will be no complaints about the days with the bountys! xx

  3. I'm laughing, I get the sense that you ran outside at the end of that post. You sound very organised. There wouldn't be many complaints about Bounty bars in this house. Enjoy your Sunday. CJ xx

  8. Your walk in the woods sounds nice (minus the garbage smell of course!). Jack is starting to look less like a puppy and more like a dog. Hopefully the dog/house training is going well. It really is like having another child in the house. Well done finding the calendar. I remember how difficult it used to be to find things that worked for our larger than normal family.

  9. I hope you got some fresh air in your nose. :) The woods look like a great place to walk, I love the shot looking up at the trees. It looks cold and damp there but those boys are nicely bundled and I love their boots.

  11. Do we want to know what birthday boy Sam and his mates were doing? That does sound like a very hasty retreat you made!

The walk looks muddy, but in the right way that winter walks should be. Jack looks adorable, of course.

Hope you have a lovely week Christina, with far more ups than downs.

  15. Isn't a walk with a puppy fun? They poke their little noses into everything and are startled by the silliest things, like blowing leaves. Glad that you are enjoying and feeling satisfied by your new job.

  16. I want a puppy now I've seen these photos! He's a cutie. Is he well behaved? I hope your new job is going well. Our school PTA recently bought a climbing wall for the playground with funds they raised - the kids love it so much! x

  19. Good to get out for a walk! I can sympathise with the smelly boy issue. MrC. on his own is fine but add a couple of friends and it's horrific! Hope you're having a good week xx
